Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy provides a confidential and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences in a meaningful way. Dr. Steinberg works collaboratively with individuals to better understand what they are going through, identify emotional patterns, and develop a deeper awareness of themselves.

Many people seek therapy during times of stress, transition, or emotional difficulty. Others may not have a specific issue, but feel a desire to better understand themselves or to make changes in their lives. Therapy offers a space where you can speak openly, without judgment, and begin to make sense of experiences that may feel confusing, overwhelming, or difficult to put into words.

A strong therapeutic relationship is central to this process. Feeling heard, understood, and respected allows for a deeper level of exploration and reflection. Over time, this creates a foundation for meaningful insight and lasting personal growth.

A Thoughtful, Depth-Oriented Approach

Dr. Steinberg works with individuals who are interested in looking beyond surface-level challenges to explore the deeper patterns shaping their lives. Often, people notice that certain struggles repeat themselves—whether in relationships, work, or personal decision-making—without fully understanding why.

While practical advice and short-term solutions can sometimes be helpful, they do not always address the underlying causes of distress. Therapy offers an opportunity to explore what may be happening beneath the surface, including thoughts, feelings, and internal conflicts that may not be immediately visible.

This depth-oriented approach encourages curiosity and reflection. Rather than rushing toward solutions, the focus is on understanding your experience more fully. This process can be both thoughtful and transformative, helping you develop a stronger, more integrated sense of self.

How Individual Psychotherapy Can Help

Individual psychotherapy can be helpful for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and feelings of being stuck or uncertain. It also supports individuals who simply want to deepen their self-understanding and improve their overall emotional well-being.

Many people begin to notice patterns in their lives that feel difficult to change. These may include recurring relationship dynamics, self-doubt, or emotional reactions that seem disproportionate or confusing. Therapy provides a space to explore these patterns and understand where they come from.

Through this process, you may begin to recognize connections between past experiences and present-day challenges. This awareness can open the door to new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding. Over time, therapy can support greater emotional balance, clarity, and a stronger sense of direction.

What to Expect in Sessions

Sessions are tailored to your individual needs and pace. Some people prefer a more structured approach, while others benefit from a more open and exploratory space. Dr. Steinberg works flexibly, adapting to what feels most helpful for you.

You may be encouraged to reflect on your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and even dreams or bodily experiences. These elements can offer valuable insight into underlying patterns and emotional processes. At times, therapy may feel challenging, but it is also a space for support, understanding, and growth.

While therapy is often a gradual process, it can also address practical concerns as they arise. Clear and thoughtful feedback is provided along the way, helping you feel grounded and supported as you move forward.

Moving Toward Growth and Understanding

The goal of individual psychotherapy is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to foster a deeper understanding of yourself. With time, this can lead to greater self-awareness, improved relationships, and a more meaningful connection to your life.

Therapy is a collaborative and evolving process. Whether you are navigating a specific challenge or seeking a deeper sense of clarity, it offers a space to explore, reflect, and grow in a way that feels authentic to you.

Fees, Insurance, and Scheduling

The fee for psychotherapy is $200 for a 45-minute session. For billing insurance plans for which I am in network, the fee will be the contracted rate for your specific plan. I am happy to bill insurance directly, and I can also provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

The best way to schedule an appointment is to either call or email. If you choose to send a message through this site and I do not get back to you right away, please reach out through phone or email, as messages sometimes do not get through.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have in a phone call prior to an appointment being made.
